Woman killed in Wisconsin car accident

While drivers should always exercise caution, extra caution is needed when a school bus is in the area. Unfortunately, one woman was recently killed in a Wisconsin car accident after she stopped near a bus that was unloading school children. The accident remains under investigation.

The initial investigation concerning the accident apparently reveals that a 56-year-old woman was stopped or was in the process of stopping on a Wisconsin highway while children were exiting a bus. Unfortunately, police believe that a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old male failed to stop in time, slamming into the rear of the woman's car. The force of the impact sent the first car into the median.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment, but ultimately passed away from the injuries she suffered in the collision. The driver of the pickup was not injured. He has since been cited for following too closely, but a representative from the district attorney's office has said that the accident remains under investigation and recommendations regarding additional charges have not been made yet.

Unfortunately, a family is grieving the loss of their loved one in a car accident that was reportedly caused through no fault of the victim. Because few people are prepared for the financial ramifications of an unexpected death -- including medical bills, funeral costs and loss of wages -- many people who have lost a loved one in such a manner have turned to the Wisconsin civil court system for relief. If it can be proved that a person's life was lost because of another's negligence, the court could issue an award of damages to help with the financial burden created by the loss.
