3 injured, 1 killed in Wisconsin car accident

If asked, all drivers in Wisconsin would likely state that they are aware of the importance of constant vigilance when driving on the state's roadways. Unfortunately, even a split second of inattention can have devastating consequences. When driving on a highway, for example, a driver can be lulled into a false sense of security, allowing his or her attention to wander. Unfortunately, a car accident in Wisconsin recently killed one man and sent three people to the hospital.

Police indicate that they received reports of the accident one afternoon in late April. They claim that a sedan driven by a 69-year-old male slowed for traffic congestion created by construction. It is believed that an SUV driven by a 35-year-old man struck the sedan from behind. The force of the impact pushed the sedan into a pickup truck.

Unfortunately, the driver of the sedan died as a result of the collision. Additionally, a passenger in the sedan was transported to the hospital for treatment along with two occupants of the SUV. The driver of that vehicle has since received a citation for inattentive driving.

It is difficult to fathom how quickly a person's or family's life can change. The family of the deceased man surely had no idea when he got behind the wheel of his car that it would be the last time they would see him. As a result of the unexpectedness of his death, his surviving family members may be unprepared for the financial consequences created by the car accident. Additionally, those injured in the accident may face a lengthy recovery, creating financial burdens due to medical bills and lost wages. Many people in Wisconsin who have found themselves in a similar situation have turned to the civil court system -- a successfully presented case could result in an award of damages in accordance with state law.
