Drunk driving alleged re fatal Wisconsin pedestrian accident

Over the course of the last few decades, a variety of public service announcements have attempted to educate the public about the potential consequences of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. While many people are heeding the warnings, others continue to make the risky decision to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming alcohol. Unfortunately, one man in Wisconsin was recently killed in an accident that led to drunk driving charges.

The accident happened in the early morning hours of a day in August. Police say that a 38-year-old man was walking home from a music concert. When police received reports that a pedestrian had been struck, they discovered the victim lying unresponsive in the road. Although he was transported to an area trauma center for treatment, he ultimately died from the injuries he suffered in the accident.

Police say that the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. He has since been charged with operating while under the influence. The local sheriff's office is still investigating the accident.

Unfortunately, a Wisconsin man's family is left grieving his death as a result of this accident. In addition to this grief, they may also face financial hardship as a result of medical bills, funeral expenses and loss of wages. If a criminal conviction results from the drunk driving charges, proof of it may be offered evidence of negligence in a related civil trial. A successfully presented case in a civil court could result in an award of damages that may allow the victim's family to cope with some of the expenses stemming from his death.
