Wisconsin bicyclist killed in car accident

Many people in Wisconsin and across the country are becoming more aware of the importance of physical activity. As a result, some choose a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise. Few people think that their healthy decisions could ultimately endanger their lives through no fault of their own. Unfortunately, one woman who chose such an option -- riding her bicycle -- was recently killed in a car accident.

According to reports, the accident happened just before 2 p.m. one afternoon on a day in late March. Police say that the 53-year-old victim was riding her bicycle south on a Wisconsin roadway. Unfortunately, she was reportedly struck from behind by a vehicle also headed south and driven by an 80-year-old man.

The person who sought help from emergency responders also attempted to administer first aid to the bicyclist. Despite this person's efforts, the woman reportedly died at the scene. The investigation into the incident continues.

Unfortunately, a fatal car accident can happen before a driver can knows what has happened, often caused by a single moment of inattention. This woman's family is now facing a future without their loved one. In addition to their grief, they will also have to cope with the financial consequences created by loss of wages and funeral expenses. Because these burdens can easily become overwhelming for a family in grief, victims -- including surviving family members in the event of a fatality -- have legal options that could lead to relief. An initial consultation with an attorney with experience with such cases can help these victims better understand their options.
