2 killed, 2 injured in Wisconsin drunk driving car accident

Car accidents in Wisconsin often leave families forever altered -- especially those caused by a drunk driver. While many innocent victims lose their lives in such a crash, leaving their surviving family members coping with their loss, other families are left coping with the news that their loved one's actions may have caused such grief. A recent car accident in Wisconsin that killed two people and sent two others to the hospital remains under investigation.

The accident happened one evening in early April. According to reports, a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old man struck a van driven by a 64-year-old man who  was attempting a left turn. The two vehicles entered into the lane of oncoming traffic, ultimately involving a car in the collision.

Both the driver and passenger in the van died as a result of the injuries they suffered in the collision. The driver of the car and a passenger in the pickup truck were transferred to the hospital for treatment of their injuries but are expected to survive. Police say that alcohol and speed were factors in the accident, and the driver of the pickup truck was arrested on charges of drunk driving and causing two deaths.

Despite the efforts made to educate the public about the dangers of drinking and driving, people in Wisconsin and across the country continue to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. As a result, families are left facing the emotional and financial ramifications of the unexpected loss of a loved one while other victims face a difficult recovery from their own injuries. If a car accident is caused by a negligent driver, there are options available for legal recourse. An experienced personal injury attorney can help victims better understand these options.
