Wisconsin car accident kills 2, man arrested

To some, speed limits seem only impediments to a timely arrival at an intended destination. However, speed limits are in place in order to protect all users of the roadways in Wisconsin; ignoring them can have serious consequences. For example, police believe that both speed and alcohol played a factor in a recent car accident that resulted in the death of two people.

The crashed reportedly happened one evening in early April. According to reports, a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old man slammed into a minivan attempting to make a left turn. The force of the accident pushed the vehicles into oncoming traffic and ultimately involved a sedan.

The passenger and driver of the van passed away as a result of the injuries they suffered in the collision. The driver of the sedan and passenger in the truck were taken to the hospital. Both are expected to survive. The driver of the truck is suspected of driving while intoxicated.

Unfortunately, the families of the two deceased victims will have to face life without their loved ones while the injured victims must cope with the financial burdens created by medical expenses and lost wages. Car accident victims in Wisconsin who have found themselves harmed as a result of another's negligence often choose to seek financial relief in the civil court. If negligence can be proved -- claims that would be supported by a conviction of criminal charges -- the court could award victims, including surviving family members in the event of a fatality, a monetary award in accordance with state laws.
