Wrong-way car accident kills 1 driver, severely injures passenger

Wisconsin State Patrol reported that it is investigating a crash that occurred on Sunday, Sept. 17 in Dodge County. This was a fatal car accident that claimed the life of one person. It also caused critical injuries to another. Along with WSP, several other emergency services rushed to the scene, including EMS crews, firefighters and Flight for Life.

According to a preliminary accident report, the incident occurred on State Highway 60 shortly after 11 a.m. not far from the Town of Rubicon. Officials indicate that an SUV was traveling in the wrong direction on the highway. For reasons yet to be determined, it was eastbound in the lane carrying westbound traffic.

A collision with a westbound SUV followed, killing the driver of that vehicle on impact. She was a 64-year-old Iron Ridge resident, and her death was pronounced at the accident scene. A passenger in the same SUV was airlifted to a medical facility for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Reportedly, the wrong-way driver's injuries were not life-threatening.

While this car accident remains under investigation, the surviving family members of the deceased Wisconsin driver may proceed with the pursuit of financial relief to assist with the high costs of end-of-life arrangements and other expenses. They can file a wrongful death lawsuit in a civil court. Similarly, the injured passenger may file a personal injury claim to help her with the medical bills that will soon be piling up. Both cases will require the establishment of negligence -- a task that might be best handled by an experienced personal injury attorney.
